Possible Yoga Club

 By Carla Keen, Yoga Instructor

I am delighted to be offering a Webinar Gentle Yoga class through OLLI for the summer term on Monday mornings. I have now learned it would also be possible to form a yoga club that would run through the year, as all OLLI clubs do, if there is enough interest!

As a Yoga Alliance certified teacher, my focus has been on developing classes and workshops that focus on building strength and flexibility in a safe environment. As an artist and craftsperson, I have also been exploring the connection between yoga and creativity. I often incorporate elements of Hatha yoga, Yin yoga, and guided meditations into the classes I prepare.

One of the limitations of live classes, I have found, is the lack of opportunity for lengthy interaction. Having a club as well as classes at OLLI would offer us a way to overcome this limitation. We could communicate directly with each other, address member questions, discuss special topics, and explore together many other aspects of yoga that members might be interested in.

Would you be interested in a virtual meeting on Zoom in the near future? The virtual meeting would be a platform for me to offer more information and then to address questions and concerns directly. If so, please let me know by email at carlabkeen@gmail.com. I will answer questions by email where possible as well.

Delightful First

My first gay wedding
Someday just another wedding
Two middle aged loving men
A twenty-year bond sealed
Fun and delight the themes
Tears from the start
Rabbi and minister led the vows
Crisp sun lit the site
Family, friends, colleagues unite in joy
As champagne flowed
Dancing to oldies filled the night
Love is love.

Obituary: Lesley A. Bubenhofer

Lesley Bubenhofer, member since 2010, died on April 26. She was an active member, contributing to many committees and activities, and, as one colleague noted, for many years “served wonderfully as chair of the Development Committee.”

She is remembered in numerous tributes from her many friends at OLLI as a joy, kind and generous, always positive and helpful, full of enthusiasm for OLLI, upbeat and optimistic, such an asset to OLLI, a truly down-to-earth lovely person, a wonderful presence . . . and more. Her devotion to OLLI was reflected in her service, and especially in her tireless and timeless work for several years as chair of the Development Committee. She lives on in the hearts and minds of her OLLI friends.

A memorial service will be held at a future, safe date. Because of the COVID‑19 pandemic, the community where Lesley and her husband Fred have lived since the end of January is not open to visitors at this time. If you would like to send condolences, please address them to:
