Tickets are still available for Fall for the Book: Billy Collins. This event will be September 28 at 8:00 pm at the Reston Community Center, Center Stage. Tickets are $15. Register for event 957 at the member portal.
The OLLI 25th anniversary book has arrived. Pre-orders may be picked up at the Tallwood office. If you didn't order a copy, you can still purchase one for $25.
The Board of Directors met last Friday at Tallwood. It was announced that Elaine Leonard has taken over as Hospitality subcommittee chair. Hospitality is a part of Member Services. Elaine replaces Sandra Driesslein who has done a wonderful job chairing the subcommittee for the past ten years. We also have a new site assistant, Meg Przybylski, who will assist at the Fairfax locations. Staff member Bill Walsh has now reached ten years of dedicated service to OLLI.
President Ray Beery announced that in response to comments submitted to the Board about the growth in the size of OLLI and its consequences, there will be a survey of the membership to determine how the full membership views the future of OLLI. When the survey is sent out, all members are encouraged to respond. Your voice is needed. As we develop the plans for the direction of OLLI, additional opportunities for comment will be scheduled.
Martha Scanlon presented statistics and a status report on a study of the Friends of OLLI Fund, highlighting sources and uses.
George Mason University has agreed to allow OLLI members to purchase a $15 annual pass to use the outdoor parking lots at Mason in Fairfax.
With the completion of the parking lot renovation at Tallwood, fencing has been installed along the pool parking lot. Access to Tallwood from the pool is now to the front of Tallwood. This was done because of the danger of crossing the driveway to the rear of the site. It is important that everyone follow the path along the front and stay out of the driveway.
Everyone is reminded that preschools at the churches are now in session and care must be taken in the parking lots.

The 25th anniversary gift amount raised, as of August 31, for Mason's OMS is absolutely "FANTABULOUS!” The OMS gift totals an awesome $26,372.00. Isn't that fantastic?
The very generous support demonstrated by OLLI members and others for OMS students is sincerely appreciated. This anniversary gift will certainly have a very positive impact in assisting Mason students who are veterans to bridge funding gaps.
Mason Offers Discounted Parking Passes for OLLI Members

Tired of the cost and frustration of finding parking at George Mason University in Fairfax? Relief is here!
OLLI has negotiated discounted parking passes for full-year OLLI members. For just $15, you can park in several of the general lots at Mason Fairfax through August 2017. Just think of the ease in parking for arts performances, cultural events or community meetings!
Get your passes now! Follow the instructions below and you are on your way to hassle-free parking at Mason Fairfax.
Visit Mason Parking Services, open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 7:00 pm, and Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (703-993-6014). Mason Parking Services is located next to the Shenandoah Parking Deck.
Bring a valid photo ID, indicating your name and address.
The pass is $15, which can be paid for with cash or check. It is valid from the date of issue until August 31, 2017.
Once the cashier verifies your status as a full-year OLLI member, you will be issued a hangtag permit.
The permit is good for any of the general lots on campus. These include Lots A, C, K, L, M, O, P, PV, and half of level 1 and all of level 2 of the Rappahannock Parking Deck.
Hang the hangtag from your rearview mirror and make sure that permit information is facing outward.
